Welcome to the Flashback Repository
Personal fan edits of films I own — family-safe cuts, taste-driven mixes, and quiet repairs to movies that still matter.
This is not a pirate archive. You must own a legal copy of each original before you play anything here. That is the same rule the fanedit community has used for years.
How to use it
- Confirm ownership on the welcome screen (once per browser).
- Pick a title from the library below — each page explains what changed.
- Reaffirm for that film the first time you open it (one checkbox; remembered forever on this device).
- Hit Play. On a phone, playback goes fullscreen when it can.
Media rides thin IPFS: if a file is not on the network yet, it needs to be seeded — the hash is known; the bytes just are not here yet.
Why this exists: it is not only about better cuts. It is about whether we are allowed to improve the films we own and share those cuts with friends. Read the full motivation →
Working on
- Widescreen finish for The Pentagon Papers
- Dual English + citation subtitles on recent Debugged / DeAnna’d mixes
- Seams QC and catalog polish across the library
FanMixes
2012 (2009) — SalvationA tighter cut of Roland Emmerich’s disaster epic that trims excess death spectacle and russophobic beats so the survival story can breathe.Alien Resurrection (1997) — UnJossedA leaner *Alien Resurrection* that strips out most of the gross, Joss Whedon–flavored body-horror gags while keeping the Betty crew’s escape intact.Boogie Nights (1997) — No LookoutA single-block cut of PTA’s *Boogie Nights* that skips the late-film collapse from the office whip-pan through On the Lookout and the donut-shop stick-up, then resumes on the film’s own fade to black into the Rahad-planning scene.Congo (1995) — IncelA leaner *Congo* that trims Dr. Elliot’s incel-ish dialogue, some Travis/Captain Wanta screaming, and a bit of gore — and fixes a travel plot hole by moving the Bob Driscoll encounter forward.Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) — No North StarA single-scene cut that removes the North Star Coffee Lounge waitress/knife sequence and hard-cuts back to the Red Shark run to the airport.Final Fantasy (2001) — The Phantom Menace*Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within* (2001) — Phantom Menace Edition. A minimalist re-cut that strips distracting acting and excess human-behavior beats, shortens gore, and restores a more Final Fantasy–like title placement — with the rare Japanese track and remix soundtrack upgraFried Green Tomatoes (1991) — No Frank BennettThis cut removes **Frank Bennett** (Nick Searcy): his on-screen scenes, the **Valdosta / river-club / abuse / kidnapping / investigation / trial** thread, and **dialogue that names or explains him**, so the runtime stays continuous where possible. The automated ranges come from tMatrix Reloaded (2003) — UnlinkedA pacing-focused cut of *The Matrix Reloaded* that strips many Link establishment sequences plus a few early-movie wreckers (orgasm-brownie, kiss), so the story moves without the Tank-replacement hand-holding.Matrix Revolutions (2003) — UnlinkedA companion cut to Reloaded — Unlinked that trims many Link establishment sequences from *The Matrix Revolutions*.Mission to Mars (2000) — Enhanced CitationsParadigm Threat [AU-062](https://paradigmthreat.net/influence/cayman/investigations/occult-icons-mountain-of-heaven-glitch-investigation.md) §8.1a / §7.1.Ninja Scroll (1993) — Minor DamageA FanEdit featuring additional songs from the Ninja Gaiden OST (Xbox). *Ninja Scroll* is a classic with few flaws; this cut reduces the imbalance in how women are portrayed, removes the rape scenes, and dials back the blood — while keeping the core friendships and betrayals intacRiddick (2013) — UnjinxedA dialogue-trimmed *Riddick* that keeps the Unjinxed tone, front-loads the Necromonger “wrong planet” flashback as a linear prologue, and drops the opening predator beat so the desert survival story starts clean.Serenity (2005) — Unjossed EditionA family/kids cut of *Serenity*: strict on Reaver gore, keeps the action and core plot, and leaves favorite Whedon beats (including “leaf on the wind” and the final fight) alone unless they break tone after horror.Silent Hill (2006) — Nay Tomorrow EditionMy wife and I love this movie, but it's quite unwatchable in its current format. We wanted a cut that we could watch without having to turn away or fast-forward through sequences.Sonic (2020) — DeSchwartzed EditionThe Sonic Movie Trilogy (2020-2024) is quite unwatchable due to decisions by Ben Schwartz and other editors to add distracting, unamusing, [racist](https://www.reddit.com/r/rant/comments/1j5d6a8/the_sonic_the_hedgehog_2_movie_is_racist/), and otherwise agenda-driven dialog duringSonic 2 (2022) — DeSchwartzed EditionThe Sonic Movie Trilogy (2020-2024) is quite unwatchable due to decisions by Ben Schwartz and other editors to add distracting, unamusing, [racist](https://www.reddit.com/r/rant/comments/1j5d6a8/the_sonic_the_hedgehog_2_movie_is_racist/), and otherwise agenda-driven dialog duringSonic 3 (2024) — DeSchwartzed EditionThe Sonic Movie Trilogy (2020-2024) is quite unwatchable due to decisions by Ben Schwartz and other editors to add distracting, unamusing, [racist](https://www.reddit.com/r/rant/comments/1j5d6a8/the_sonic_the_hedgehog_2_movie_is_racist/), and otherwise agenda-driven dialog duringTerminator 3 (2003) — Brass Monkey EditionIn Brass Monkey Edition, I attempt to cut out all distracting dialog and sequences in Terminator 3 to be more like the first two movies. The Big Lebowski (1998) — Enhanced CitationsFollow-up to [The Mummy (1999) - Debugged](../The%20Mummy%20%281999%29%20-%20Debugged/) and Paradigm Threat [AU-062](https://paradigmthreat.net/influence/eugene/investigations/occult-icons-mountain-of-heaven-glitch-investigation.md).The Chronicles Of Riddick (2004) — Fry's EditionThis version removes many extended scenes and restores some audio from the Theatrical version. It also removes many poorly acted, sexist, or just irritating scenes with Thandiwe Newton (Dame Vaako) and Alexa Davalos (Kyra). The Day After Tomorrow (2004) — YuppocolypseA leaner *Day After Tomorrow* that spends less time establishing the yuppie protagonists before the climate disaster takes over. The Mummy (1999) — DebuggedKid-friendlier cut: **scarabs that kill or eat people** are removed. Adventure, Imhotep, and the later plagues stay. Not a full wipe of every gunfight. The Mummy Returns (2001) — DebuggedKid-friendlier cut to match *The Mummy (1999) - Debugged*. This film has no SRT-named scarab dump; v1 removes the **pygmy swarm** that kills the expedition (same “little creatures eating people” beat). Confirm in [PLAN.md](PLAN.md).The Pentagon Papers (2003) — WidescreenSharper **16:9** presentation of the FX / Paramount TV movie. No story cuts. The 4:3 PAL DVD is AI-upscaled, then center-cropped — not stretched, not outpainted.Van Helsing (2004) — DeAnna'dCut that removes **Anna** as much as possible without plot or context regression, and strips as many cringe beats as we can — especially with the Frankenstein monster. Select score beds are swapped for *Castlevania: Symphony of the Night* cues (`castlevania-symphony_of_the_night_War of the Worlds (2005) — Family Therapy EditionThis FanMix eliminates nearly all the toxic family behavior featured in the movie, so that WotW (2005) becomes a movie about aliens and not allusions to Spielberg's trouble raising his own children.
KidFriendly
Bambi (1942) — KidFriendly EditionToddler-safe cut (~3 years): removes hunting scares, mother's death, Ronno fight, forest fire, and wounded climax; keeps friends, meadow joy, winter play, romance, and twin-fawns ending.Cinderella (1950) — KidFriendly EditionToddler-safe cut (~3 years): removes meanness, scary cat-vs-mouse violence, dress destruction, attic imprisonment, and the Bruno dream line about chasing cats.Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) — KidFriendly EditionToddler-safe cut (~3 years): Francis breakfast/pool/basement removed; **Francis premiere kept**. No clown close-ups, Large Marge, Simone diner, T-rex dream, Andy, train, Lloyd rodeo, basement conspiracy, biker death threats, WB nightmare, or Twisted Sister hell song. Keeps MickeySpirited Away (2001) — Alena EditionEnglish-dub cut for Alena. Same scary-beat removals as the Kid friendly edition, except **No-Face**: gold, eating the frog, the rampage, and the “calm down” / dumpling confrontation are out. The join lands on **him spitting the frog back out**.Spirited Away (2001) — Kid friendlyEnglish-dub cut for a **3-year-old** viewer: removes blood, body horror, predatory eating, witch intimidation, and sustained fright beats.
